To configure the default homepage, just click on Tools along the top of Internet Explorer, and then click on Internet Options (or View then Internet Options for Internet Explorer 3 and 4).
If you are currently viewing your favourite website, just click on Use Current to automatically add the website address into the Address field. Alternatively, you can simply type in the website address of your choice e.g. www.issl.co.nz (you do not need to add http://).
If you do not wish to have any web-page come up when opening Internet Explorer, just click on the Use Blank button. This will insert about:blank in the Address field. Note: Using this option will prevent the dial-up connection prompt box from coming up automatically. You will either need to dial into the Internet first, or type in a website address in order to get Windows to prompt you to connect.
Note: If you are running Windows ME (Millennium Edition), the settings for Internet Tools will be inactive. Changing your default settings can only be done through Dial-up Networking. Refer to instructions further down this page. Under Dial-up Settings, you should have ISSL (Default) showing.
If you do not have any dial-up connections listed, please refer to the configuration instructions for setting up a dial-up connection, for your particular Operating System. Once you have set-up your dial-up connection for ISSL, you will need to set it as your default connection. First, make sure you have Always dial my default connection selected:
Click once on ISSL to highlight it, then click on the Set Default button.
To make ISSL the default connection, put a tick in the box This is the default Internet connection. If you want Windows ME to prompt you to connect, put a tick in the box Always dial my default connection. Remember to click OK to save any changes made. | ||||||||||||||
